National Crimebeat is the official youth crime prevention charity of the High Sheriffs’ Association of England and Wales. But more than that, we are a national platform designed to amplify the voices of young change-makers.
Why We Exist:
Driving Youth-Led Change
Every year in March we invite six or seven of the winning entries to attend our Awards Ceremony, which is held at a Central London hotel. At this event, we ask each project to present what they do and what difference they have made, to an audience of High Sheriffs, Judges, Police Officers, and VIP Guests.

Mandy Thorn DL MBE
High Sheriff of Shropshire 2023-2024
Mandy had a career in the health and care sector for over 30 years. Attending a National Crimebeat Awards ceremony led to her becoming a trustee, and the rest as they say is history! She chairs charity and public/private partnership boards, is an active volunteer as well as being Patron of a cancer charity and President of a Hospice. Appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Shropshire in 2019.

Margaret Miles
High Sheriff Rutland 2019
Margaret taught Mathematics in secondary schools for over 20 years. Inspired by attending a National Crimebeat Awards ceremony, she became a Trustee, motivated by young people’s achievements. She volunteers with other charities and school boards, focusing on educating and supporting youth. Her interests include family time, sport, gardening, reading and theatre.

Theresa Peltier DL
High Sheriff of Derbyshire 2023-2024
Theresa enjoyed a successful career with Derbyshire Police, retiring in 2019 and is passionate about social justice, equity and fairness for all. Theresa was made a Deputy Lieutenant in 2024 and received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Derby the same year. She sits on several Boards and is Chair for Adoption East Midlands and Foster for East Midlands Panels.

Andy Bliss QPM MA FSA
High Sheriff of West Sussex 2023-2024
Andy Bliss served as a police officer in Sussex, Essex and latterly as Chief Constable of Hertfordshire, leading nationally for policy on drug crime enforcement. He now leads a small specialist consultancy working primarily in the archaeology and heritage sector and is also Chair of Trustees of a museum on the Sussex/Surrey border.

Clive Lloyd
High Sheriff of West Yorkshire 2021-22
Clive is an engineer by profession, and continues to have an active working life in business together with more than 25 years’ of trustee board membership experience, with a large number of both national and regional organisations, predominantly within the field of arts and culture. He became a trustee of National Crimebeat in 2022 and is completely inspired by the ongoing achievements of the organisation and the changes that National Crimebeat has made to the lives of so many young people.

Grania Phillips DL
High Sheriff of Devon 2018 -2019
Grania has farmed in North Devon for over 30 years where she and her husband run a pedigree herd of Red Ruby Devons. She serves on the councils of Devon County Show, North Devon Show and Devon Cattle Breeders Society. Before moving to Devon, Grania worked as a Clinical Psychologist and maintains an interest in and commitment to mental health issues. She is also an Honorary Colonel of the Devon ACF.

Jo Hilditch DL
High Sheriff of Herefordshire 2020-2021
Jo’s background in PR and marketing which is a skill she has continued to use all her working life despite ending up in agriculture. She moved to the family farm in Herefordshire 1994 where she has developed and expanded the business ever since.
She has been involved in many voluntary aspects of Herefordshire life. She is chair of the Herefordshire BID, which is involved in developing the tourism economy of the county. Jo sits on the NFU national poultry board and is actively involved in lobbying and representing farmers. Apart from that she is a trustee for Yeleni (a Herefordshire cancer care charity). Jo also chairs the National Blackcurrant Association. As a trustee of National Crimebeat (she entered a Herefordshire winning team during her year as HS), Jo also sees the huge benefit of developing skills and awareness in today’s youth, especially where crime prevention is involved.

Trustee and finalist in the National Crimebeat Awards 2023
Tranai Todd, 21, is founder and CEO of Support Through Sport, established at 17. Based in Nottingham, the organisation delivers sport-led mentoring and intervention programmes to disadvantaged youth, promoting pro-social behaviour and reducing risks of crime, violence and gang involvement through a youth-led, preventative approach that builds safer, stronger communities.

Trustees’ Executive Assistant
Kathryn provides admin support to National Crimebeat drawing on her experience as a Personal Assistant in publishing and HR. A long-time community volunteer, she served as a School Governor and PTA secretary while her children grew up. Now settled in Derbyshire, she enjoys singing, beekeeping, cooking and supporting the local community.
